Happy New Year! It`s been a very busy few weeks around here preparing for the holidays that I haven`t had much time for blogging. Things finally settled down for us by New Year`s Eve when our plans to go out fell through and we spent the day in our PJ’s watching HGTV…and fell asleep by 11:00. Oops! It was actually great and we woke up refreshed and ready to take on 2018! Instead of making New Year`s resolutions, one of the things I like to do before the start of a new year is set New Year Intentions (Much like setting New Moon intentions I talked about here). You can make them at any time and by focusing on them throughout the year, you`ll really start to see things happen in your life!
How to Get the Life You Want in 2018
Here are some helpful steps to take to live your best life in 2018:
Change the Language of Your Thoughts:
Have you ever read The Secret? If not, I’m sure you’ve at least heard of it. In the book, the author describes the Law of Attraction and how it can be used to create the life you want by changing the way you think. Actually, my journey with the Law of Attraction didn’t start with The Secret, it started with Manifestation Miracle (affiliate link) by Heather Mathews. Both books affirmed something that I have been saying for years prior, “what you think about, you bring about”. That includes both positive AND negative circumstances. They both explain that we as humans emit vibrations into the Universe based on our thoughts, either positive or negative, and the Universe sends us back what we put out, like a magnet. For example, “ugh, I hate this car! It’s always got SOMETHING wrong with it!” then, like a Genie, the Universe says, “your wish is my command” and your car will continue to have problems. I know you’re probably thinking that it’s impossible to think positively ALL the time but you can train yourself to be mindful of your thoughts. It takes some practice but it will change your life! If you don’t believe me, just ask Oprah. Oprah knows what’s up.
Write Out a Specific List of Intentions for the Year:
Using the new way of thinking above, write out your goals for 2018 and be as specific as possible. BUT, instead of writing, “I want more money” or “I want to lose weight” or “I want a new car”, write your intentions as if they have already happened, like “I am financially abundant” “I drive a 2017 White Hyundai Santa Fe with heated Seats”. Then think about each intention you write and visualize yourself having those things or situations. Actually try and feel what it might be like to drive your new vehicle or to have financial freedom or to fit back into your old skinny jeans. Write Thank You three times at the end of your list as gratitude amplifies the Law of Attraction and will attract things to you quicker!
Create a Vision Board:
This is the really fun part. Gather up your old magazines and make a collage of pictures and words of the things you put on your list. Put a picture of the car you want and motivational phrases that will keep your thoughts positive. Once it’s complete, place it somewhere that you will see it everyday. I threw out all my old magazines (as one of my intentions of being less of a hoarder) so this year, I made a 2018 Vision Board on Pinterest. That way I can look at it from my phone any time and keep adding to it throughout the year. See it here!
I hope these tips will help you to have the best year ever. I made my list of intentions a few weeks ago and one of mine has already manifested: “I will go on a beach vacation”. We leave for Mexico tomorrow morning! It’s going to be a great year! What are your intentions for 2018? I’d love to hear from you! Email me at meaghan@aspenmoonmama.com or leave a comment below!
